Child Care Services for Essential Workforce

Child Care Services for Essential Workforce

Oakland Schools is working in cooperation with our 28 local school districts and community partners to coordinate emergency child care for children birth through 12 years old for Essential Workers on the front lines supporting our Oakland County community during the COVID-19 pandemic.  These efforts stem from the Governor’s Executive Order Expanding Capacity for Disaster Relief Child Care Services for Essential Workforce.

Below is information that may be of interest to you personally.  Please also share it with family, friends, and others who may need to know.

There are 3 ways for Essential Workers to request child care.

1. Online - Essential Workers are encouraged to request Essential Worker Child Care online.  This is the most efficient way to get help from the Care Coordinators at Oakland Schools.    Essential Workers can also text or Live Chat  with a Care Coordinator.

2. Phone - Essential Workers can call the Care Coordination “hotline” at 844-456-5437.

3. Email  - Essential workers email christine.hodge@oakland.k12.mi.us or veronica.pechumer@oakland.k12.mi.us. Care Coordinators are skilled at providing family-friendly assistance.

Child Care providers who are currently providing or planning to provide child care to Essential Workers should: Complete the Current Openings survey and update it as their information changes.  This is the most efficient way to be added to the list of providers at the county level and receive referrals from Care Coordinators.  Child Care providers can also call the Care Coordination “hotline” number at 844-456-5437 or email veronica.pechumer@oakland.k12.mi.us, tammy.arakelian@oakland.k12.mi.us or kellye.wood@oakland.k12.mi.us for assistance with the survey.

We are committed to the health and well-being of our children and all who care for, educate, and work on their behalf.
